Cutie Pie’s Favorite Song at Preschool

Here’s a violent little ditty that is being sung in Cutie Pie’s class.

Three little monkeys swinging in a tree.

Teasing Mr. Alligator, “Can’t catch me!”

Along came Mr. Alligator quiet as can be…

SNAP that monkey right out of that tree.

Two little monkeys swinging in a tree.

Teasing Mr. Alligator, “Can’t catch me!”

Along came Mr. Alligator quiet as can be…

SNAP that monkey right out of that tree.

One little monkey swinging in a tree.

Teasing Mr. Alligator, “Can’t catch me!”

Along came Mr. Alligator quiet as can be…

SNAP…, the last monkey said, “Missed me!”

Cutie Pie loves it.  He gets all dramatic and acts out the alligator chomp with his arms.  It’s really quite cute.  What’s a mom to do?  It’s no worse that some nursery rhymes out there, I suppose.  I’m talking to you, lady in the shoe!  And Peter, Peter Pumpkin Eater!

The good thing is that he doesn’t know that it’s about an alligator eating monkeys.  He just likes the rhyme and the hand motions.

LOL. I love that one! I grew up with all sorts of morbid nursery rhymes and lullabies and now I laugh about it. I didn’t realize it until I was a teenager and sang them to someone. So far my little ones don’t seem to notice. :)
