Good morning! Hope everyone is awaking from their food coma! I don’t know about you but I’m so sick of leftovers I could *yak* at the sight of ham or green bean casserole. We had to order pizza last night to normalize our systems π
I’ve already shared my homemade tags and tins that I gave away as gifts. But I thought I’d share a few more items I made this year. I was lucky to get these babies completed before the big day! It was a busy holiday season (doesn’t everyone say that?).
Altered tin for my best friend from high school:
Inside this tin there was a mini-accordion album. Here’s the front:
Here’s the back:
Then I made my cousin a 6 x 6 recipe book. She’s always asking for my various recipes so I figured that I would create a compilation as a gift. Here is the cover. The inside photos didn’t come out very well. Picture a two page layout with the ingredients on one side and the steps on the other. The embellishments and papers were all from a kit I found a JoAnn Fabric.
Then I made my friend who hosted her annual Christmas dinner party a little altered band-aid box as well. I’m really pleased with how this one turned out:
It looks much better in person.
The top of the tin:
Mini-album that was inside:
I put the photos from her birthday party in it.
I think I’m hooked on altering band-aid tins! They’re so fun to make. When my new scrapbook area is complete, watch out! The band-aid tin above was my first attempt ever. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was. Yay! Now I just need to order some more “blanks” so I can make more. I’m really curious to try out scrapbooking paint on my altered item projects.
Sounds like another trip to the craft store is at hand!

Love the band-aid tins! I have never tried altering one…but I might try now. I just need to find some blank ones. π
Love your accordian tin for your best friend!! Reminds me of the one I made you for your boys many swaps ago.
In other news… my revolution has been disappointing so far. π¦ Think I may send it back for a Sizzix Bigkick after all…

Thank you! Nothing holds a candle to the tin and album you made for me. Seriously. It is so beautiful. I made my other friends my guinea pigs for my first tin-altering projects. I couldn’t make you anything until I got my confidence up. So, now I’ll make something special for you one of these days. Your work is my gold standard. π I hope you’re not disappointed that I didn’t send you an altered tin this Christmas.
I’m sorry to hear about the revolution disappointment. What’s wrong with it? E-mail me!
I’m thinking the paints will come in handy for painting the tops of the tins and for the trim work. See where the white shows through on the top of the tin above? I think I could paint a base coat then add paper and embellishments on top of that.
