Bob

This is the conversation Wildman and I had on the way home from preschool today:

Me: Have you thought about what stuffed animal you want to bring to school on Friday for the toy pet parade?

Wildman: Nope.

Me: You can bring Husky, if you want.

Wildman: Yeah. Husky is a dog like Sugar and Spice are dogs.

Me: Yes, he is. But he’s a stuffed dog.

Wildman: I like dogs.

Me: I know you do.

Wildman: Dogs ride in the back of trucks sometimes.

Me: Yep.

W: Maybe we can take Sugar and Spice in the back of our truck some time.

Me: I don’t think so, Wildman. Sugar and Spice belong to Mr. Guido.

W: Who is Mr. Guido?

Me: He’s our neighbor. You see him walking his dogs in the evenings.

W: Oh. I don’t like Mr. Guido’s name.

Me: Well, there’s nothing you can do about that.

W: Why not?

Me: Because it’s his name. You can’t change a person’s name just because you don’t like it.

W: I like the name Bob. Mr. Guido should be “Bob”.

Me: You can’t change Mr. Guido’s name, honey.

W: I still like “Bob”.

Me: Okay…
