Second to Last Launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis

We set foot on the hot sand right as  STS-132 was lifting off this afternoon at 2:20 PM.  It was a gorgeous day for a shuttle launch!  The beach was packed with spectators aiming cameras, portable radios and binoculars northward to the Cape.

There are only three more space shuttle launches left.  Then what?  It’s bittersweet to see the last few shuttle launches knowing that when they are over so many will left unemployed.

What a beautiful blue sky! I’m always jealous seeing your beach pictures. They look so nice. I think it’s so cool you could see the launch.

Wow, you are so lucky. I tried to get my kids to see a launch last year when we were at Disney World, but it was postponed.

    I’m jealous.
