What’s the Deal?

I’ve let the ol’ blog get a little dusty. I don’t have much to report… We’ve been doing our thing around here without much excitement. Unless you count my friend, B, inflating a crazy, moldy kiddie pool with a scuba tank in our side yard during a thunderstorm yesterday excitement. Don’t ask…

Here’s Cutie Pie underwater at swim lessons: This photo freaks me out. He is all wide-eyed as if to say “what the heck is going on here!” He didn’t cry during this exercise but still… poor little guy. Notice the Elmo on his rear end? I love, love, love that pair of swim trunks 🙂 So cute!

My mother-in-law kept Wildman overnight on Monday. Woo hoo! It gave J and I a little break. However it makes me wonder… When will the grandparents start taking both boys at the same time? From the time Cutie Pie was born the grandparents have been reluctant to keep both children at the same time. I find myself giving one boy or the other to my mom and one boy to my in-laws. I mix it up. Sometimes my mom gets Wildmand and sometimes she gets Cutie Pie and vice versa for my in-laws. I guess I feel like I want to minimize the stress of babysitting by only giving them one child at a time. And they certainly don’t request to have both boys at once. A date night with J is a very rare occurrence and I don’t want to push my luck in the child care department. If I give them both children then maybe they won’t want to watch them anymore. It’s silly isn’t it?

Maybe I need to bite the bullet and just call them a package deal. Cutie Pie isn’t an infant requiring higher maintenance. I don’t want either of my boys to feel left out by being separated.

Then I second guess myself by thinking that maybe they appreciate one-on-one attention every once in a while. I know that this is true of Cutie Pie on Monday night. J and I took him out to eat with us. He was a perfect angel. He sat in his highchair and colored or played with his toy cars. He didn’t cry or squirm to get down. He basked in our undivided attention. *sigh* I guess I should be happy to have this dilemma at all. I know there are many families who don’t have the choice of multiple free babysitters at the ready.
