Back-to-School

Yesterday the boys began the 2011-2012 school year!  Wildman is officially a first grader and Cutie Pie has entered his last year of preschool.  Both boys were excited for the first day of school.  Cutie Pie even requested to stay an extra hour for lunch bunch.  It was a happy day for my sons.  I’m proud of them.

I’m not sure what I’ll do with five free mornings a week now but I’m sure I’ll come up with something even if that is just a trip to the gym.  This morning I met up with several of my mom friends for breakfast.  Thursday mornings used to be reserved for play group but now that half of the group is in preschool five days a week our little mommy group is transitioning to a weekly breakfast club.  There are some of us who still have little ones at home on Thursdays so we’ll probably alternate between meeting at parks and meeting at restaurants.

I’m off to make dinner for my friend, B.  I might even catch up on some housework if there is time.  The excitement never ends around here!

Getting Ready for School

Last Friday we took Cutie Pie to his preschool open house.  He got to meet his teacher who just so happens to be Wildman’s golf instructor.  She is absolutely wonderful!  Cutie Pie’s classroom is super cute and filled with all sorts of fun things to do and see.  I cannot believe that tomorrow is the first day of school for both boys!  The summer has truly flown by.

Today is Cutie Pie’s baseline assessment for pre-kindergarten.  Wildman and I are dropping him off for a 40-minute session with his teacher.  I’ll probably end up taking Wildman to Starbucks for a special treat while we wait for Cutie Pie to finish up.

Wildman’s 1st grade open house is today as well.  At 3 PM we’ll head over to the elementary school to meet his new teacher and check out his classroom.  Wildman will be in a split 1st/2nd class instead of a traditional 1st grade.  Half of the children in the class are second graders and half are first graders.  I’m not familiar with this sort of class setup so we’ll be learning as we go!

Also on schedule for today:

  • Returning our mountain of library books- the summer reading program is over for another year
  • Grocery shopping for lunch items to pack in the boys’ new lunch boxes
  • Picking up a prescription
  • Cleaning the house

Stay tuned for more back-to-school photos…

Onward and Upward

Today was Wildman’s first day of Kindergarten.  In fact, I need to go pick him up in a few minutes so this post will be quite short.

As I said on my Facebook status- No tears.  Just happy anticipation.
