Summer Activities Continue

As a Floridians, we have four seasons too: hurricane season, love bug  season, tourist season and summer.  Summer activities pretty much go on all year long.  Last Saturday was no exception.

Big Red asked me to watch his kids for a couple of hours while he worked on a proposal for work.  In true Big Red fashion, he didn’t begin work on the proposal until day it was due…  Since the weather was sunny and in the mid-80s, I decided to break out the Slip ‘n Slide and whip up a batch of homemade play dough.

I love that we’re not cooped up in the house.  Sure, I’d love to sip some hot cocoa by a cozy fire but that is just not how we roll here.  We embrace the chance to run around in our swim suits all day long in October!  And with four active boys at our house, that’s just what the doctor ordered for my sanity!!!  😉

Fallish

There is a cinnamon broom propped up in the foyer making our house smell spicy and cozy.  I’ve got a pumpkin candle lit on the kitchen counter.  A couple of Halloween-y wooden plaques have been hung on the door.  It’s beginning to feel rather fallish at our house.

You wouldn’t know it by they way the kids played in the backyard yesterday evening though.

Yes, they’re wearing their swimsuits.

It was quite muggy last night.  Perfect weather for a dip in the pool as the harvest moon rose in the clear night sky.  Such is autumn when you live in Florida.

Happy Fall, y’all!

Zip!

A couple of weeks ago we invited B’s kids over to swim, play on the zip line and have lunch with us.  B had to run a friend’s mom to physical therapy and we were more than happy to have the kiddos over while she was running her errand.

I got quite a workout helping the children zoom across the backyard on the zip line.  There’s no easy way for them to retrieve the handlebar themselves so I wore a path from the kiddie pool at the end of the line to the starting platform.  Whew!  Was it ever hot that day!

I hope to share some photos from a real life zip line through the Costa Rican rain forest soon 🙂

The kids thought it would be fun to add even more water to the experience by shooting each other with water squirters…

I cannot believe that summer is almost over for these guys!  The first day of school is August 9th!
