New Driveway Part 2

Our hero pool designer/builder showed up to help us excavate for our new driveway on Sunday.  Thank goodness he was willing to lend a hand because it would have taken J all day with a shovel and a wheelbarrow.

Needless to say, the kids were impressed…

New Driveway Part 1

This weekend was full of manly fun in the form of breaking ground on our new driveway. We need a place to park the boat.  Parking it on the grass isn’t working out very well.  It’s so heavy that it sinks into the ground and is very difficult to move.

Big Red loaned us his sod cutter which he tells the kids is actually a candy cane maker.  I don’t know where he comes up with this stuff but the boys are fascinated.  They are expecting a fresh batch of candy canes any day now.

J and his friend, Ricardo, spent most of Saturday cutting sod and hauling it off to the landfill.

The side yard was completely bald by the end of the day.

Sunday was spent excavating 6″ of dirt, leveling a hill in the front yard, relocating a palm tree and reconfiguring a landscape island.  Things got real interesting when they guy who built our pool showed up with his Bobcat!  I’ll be uploading those photos soon.

It is never a dull moment around here.  Once again we are the spectacle of the neighborhood…
