Painted Pottery for Father’s Day

I’m finally getting around to posting photos of the pottery Wildman and Cutie Pie painted for J for Father’s Day!  We packed a lunch and met some friends at our local pottery painting studio one afternoon.  I really wanted to work on something myself but with all the chaos of setting up, eating lunch and helping the boys with their projects, I ran out of time.

I absolutely love how the boys’ pieces turned out!  Cutie Pie did an excellent job on the “My Dad Rocks” square plate.  I think it looks rather Impressionistic.  I, of course, helped a little with the lettering 🙂

Wildman went with blue and green stripes for his coffee mug.  The mug is a great size and weight.  It’s manly.  Substantial.  Wildman painted the word “Dad” on the side in green but it didn’t show up very well.  So, I went back and defined the letters with a bit of navy paint.  I think it came out wonderfully!

The boys each signed the bottom of their pieces and I added “Happy Father’s Day 2011”.  I know we’ll keep these dishes forever!  Perhaps, we’ll make this an annual tradition.  Each year we can add a new item to our collection!

Happy Father’s Day

We spent Father’s Day afternoon at the beach in Cocoa Beach.  We packed a picnic lunch, the umbrella for shade, the boogie board and the surfboards.  J’s goal to to try to teach the boys (and me) how to surf.

Wildman rode a few small waves in with J’s help but quickly lost interest. I tried my hand at the long board (sorry no photos of me) and found that I have absolutely no balance…

Cutie Pie wanted nothing to do with learning how to surf with J and the surfboard.  He took his boogie board out and taught himself how to catch a wave, how to stand up on the board and how to ride the wave to shore.  It was pretty amazing watching him at only four-years-old.  He had such determination!  I was so proud of him!

Big Red and his boys joined us for a few hours too!  It was a nice relaxing way to spend Father’s Day.

When I get my camera and the boys’ creations together, I’ll share photos of the ceramic mug and plate that they painted at a pottery studio for J…

Happy Father’s Day

J didn’t ask for much for Father’s Day (he never does).  A simple breakfast of well-buttered toast with grape jelly, scrambled eggs and orange juice then an all-day fishing trip with his boys was all he desired.

How could I refuse this guy?  He’s the best!

I spent the day cleaning our house from top to bottom.  It had been getting pretty messy around here so I was happy to have the day to myself to focus on getting things back in order.

Looks like I missed out on the excitement of catching a lemon shark 🙂  I’m so glad he refused the boys’ request to swim!  Yikes!

Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful dads out there!!!
