Boo at the Zoo 2011

Big Red invited us up to check out his 2011 Boo at the Zoo display on Saturday night.  We took his boys up with us since they hadn’t seen it yet either.

I have to say the fire pit was a nice addition and will hopefully lead to some new business for him.

Of course the boys ended up with gobs of candy from trick-or-treating around the zoo.  I might just have to pay some of it forward on the 31st when kids come to our door 🙂

Our past Boo at the Zoo visits can be seen here and here.

Check this video out.  Big Red and Auntie Jo are at the 0:06 sec. mark and Cutie Pie’s t-ball assistant coach/team sponsor is toward the end with his little Snow White :-)!

Memorial Day Recap

We spent Monday out on the islands with B and her family… for seven hours!  It was great!  I have been battling a head cold and was pretty much in bed all weekend moaning, complaining and reading The Help (which is a tremendous book, by the way).  By yesterday morning I was so fed up that I refused to sit in bed another day.  J found some Sudafed in our medicine cabinet that I combined with Advil.  The concoction fixed me up (for four hours anyway) and we set out to enjoy the day with my meds packed in the beach bag for later on.

When the last cookie had been eaten and we could no longer stand another minute in the sun, J drove us to up to Grills for dinner in the boat.

Cutie Pie fell asleep as he usually does at the end of an island adventure.  His power nap was enough to energize him for dinner.  By the time we’d driven through a brief rainstorm and docked at the restaurant, he was ready to go!

Dinner was excellent.  I had the Mahi mahi tacos that had some kind of wonderful spicy sauce on it that made my nose run.  It was about 9 PM by the time we left Grills and the kids were naturally beat from a day full of excitement.  I ended up putting Wildman to bed in his clothes because I could not wake him up when we got to our house.  Both boys had to take a good long bath first thing this morning!  LOL!

Wine with Friends

Last night I got together with several of my favorite preschool moms for wine and conversation.  A couple of them won’t be returning to Cutie Pie’s school in the fall which makes me a little sad.  I hope that we are able to keep in touch though.  They really are a great group of ladies who helped me keep my sanity when I led the parent volunteer group.  It was a much needed night out.

I left there feeling so relaxed only to arrive home at 11 PM to my kids who were still awake.  To J’s credit he was busy cleaning up the back porch from the pool parties and setting up our old laptop for Wildman.  But still, I kind of lost my cool when I heard little kid voices at such a late hour.  I am with them all day long everyday.  I really don’t want them to be up during the night which is our only quiet time.  I just wanted to come home to J and talk or hang out.  Is that selfish?  Instead of spending time together, he could not understand why I was annoyed and we fought…

The children did go to bed as soon as I got home but it really wasn’t what I wanted to come home to.  The kids were up at normal time this morning and are tired as a result of their late night.  *sigh*
