Light Saber Rack

Star Wars has been big at our house for quite some time.  My mom gave each of the boys new Star Wars bedding and alarm clocks for Christmas.  I really want to covert all of the decor in their rooms to Star Wars as well but there’s not much out there beyond posters.  We have had a quiver of five light sabers propped up in the closet for a while.  They didn’t have a home and looked pretty messy.

I did a quick search of the Internet for a storage solution and came across this brilliant yet simple solution.  I showed J the picture and he got to work constructing it.  As you can see, ours is navy blue in the center with gray trim and we decided to hang it in the horizontal position rather than the vertical.  General Grievous’ light saber is so long that this was the only orientation that looked right.  The lightsaber matches Wildman’s Darth Vader and Stormtrooper comforter perfectly and looks more sophisticated than the old, cartoon animal prints that used to grace his walls!

Christmas Day

Christmas day began for us at 7:30 AM with flurry of unwrapping presents and eating way too many goodies.  It was a wonderful, stress-free day spent with family and friends.  Heck, I even managed to squeeze in a nap!

The day after Christmas was not so relaxing, however.  I spent the day trying to clear out the boys’ closets to make room to put the new toys.  Whew!  Getting organized is hard, rewarding work.  I feel so accomplished now that everything has a home.

Now my thoughts are turning to cleaning…  How many days do you think I can put this off?  The carpet is littered with bits of wrapping paper, cellophane scraps and cookie crumbs.  I guess I can’t let it go too long since it’s already driving me insane but all I really want to do is curl up in bed with a book.

Necklaces

This should not make me as happy as it does.

What can I say?

I’m thrilled that J got around to hanging my two IKEA peg strips the other day (they’re not crooked like this photo makes them appear).  Now I have a place to hang all of the long and over-sized necklaces that have been spilling out of my tiny jewelry box for years.  I can see them all.  They don’t get tangled anymore.

My inner type-A neat-freak is rejoicing!

Now if you’ll excuse me.  I have to stop my kids from filling my refrigerator with their stuffed animals.  When does school start again?!
